Our Story

A Coastal-Inspired Seafood Favorite in Palos Park

The Original Island Shrimp House opened in late July 2015 with a simple belief: really fresh seafood, served in a casual atmosphere, should be something you can enjoy right here in the Midwest.

We set out to create a place that feels like a coastal gem, the kind you stumble into on a trip from Maine to Florida and never forget. Warm, welcoming, and built for people who love seafood and want it done right.

Today, we’re proud to be a go-to spot for families, date nights, and seafood lovers across the southwest suburbs of Chicagoland, including guests coming in from near Orland Park. Whether you’re dining in or grabbing carryout, we’re here to make it easy to enjoy a meal that feels like a little getaway.

Great seafood starts long before it hits the kitchen. From how it’s sourced to how it’s handled, we focus on standards you can feel good about every time you order.

We prioritize wild-caught seafood and certified sustainable sourcing, because quality matters and so does doing things the right way. It’s the foundation of the flavor you taste at the table.
The overwhelming majority of our seafood is sourced from the United States. We keep it simple and transparent, choosing seafood we’re proud to serve to our own families.
We never serve farm-raised seafood. We also aim to keep chemicals and questionable food practices out of the equation, letting fresh ingredients and straightforward preparation do the work. When local farm produce is in season, we bring it in to round out your meal.
